Chips, cracks and deep stains on your front teeth can leave you with a less than appealing smile. Sometimes even the most effective whitening products simply aren’t enough to fix all of the other minor imperfections. If you feel this way, then you might want to talk to your dentist about being fitted for dental veneers.

Dental veneers are thin porcelain shells fitted over the teeth in your smile. They are custom made in a laboratory to match the shape and contours of your teeth, thus giving you the white and even smile you deserve.

Being fitted for veneers requires two separate appointments. At the first appointment, your dentist will inspect your teeth to make sure the enamel isn’t compromised by tooth decay or deep fractures. In most cases this will also include taking a few X-rays. Once it has been determined that you have enough healthy enamel, the dentist will then create an impression of your teeth. This will be sent to a lab where they craft your custom veneers.

At the second appointment, the dentist will use a drill to remove a small amount of enamel from the face of each tooth. The veneers are then cemented in place. With proper care and maintenance your veneers can provide you with an appealing bright white smile for a long time to come.
